Exhibit Development Officer
Fixed Term - 15 Month (Jan 2012 to March 2013)
Glasgow Science Centre is one of Scotland’s must-see visitor attractions. Our mission is to promote science and technology through thought provoking, fun and exciting experiences that inspire all to explore and understand the world around them.
Working within our Exhibition and Technical Services Department, the successful candidate will be required to:
• Work as part of the team to co-ordinate and deliver exhibit renewal and modification within GSC.
• Ensure the exhibit repair database is up to date on a daily basis and liaise with our ‘in house’ Technical team and
external suppliers to ensure timely recovery of all unserviceable exhibits.
• Assist the Exhibitions and Technical Services and Science Learning teams with research, content and development of
all GSC Exhibits.
• Assist with projects from conceptualization through to completion ensuring they are on budget, on time and meet
stakeholder’s expectations.
• Liaise with Exhibit Engineers to ensure the number of serviceable exhibits is maintained above 97%.
• Highlight to line management any trends or faults as appropriate.
• Work with the Science Learning team to train staff on new exhibits / exhibitions.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience in the development & delivery of high quality exhibits / exhibitions.
• Knowledge and experience in project management tools and processes (MS Project etc).
• Experience in the development of interactive exhibits desirable.
• Ability to work as part of a dedicated team and to prioritise and deliver to strict deadlines.
• A high degree of commitment to GSC’s science mission.
• A passion for excellence, creativity and innovation.
