Subject: St Ives Bay from Barnoon, 7:45 p.m.
Palm tree got like a wreath. Pieces and bits
jut outwards asymmetrically.
Green fluctuation. Two eyes on this side;
and four other similar growths are opening
at other various arcs of its head.
Garden clambers around the foot, leisurely.
Sailed petite vessels in the bay, insect
immobile. A speed boat draws between them
from the north. They bob. Mist rises over
the wide bay. Steam from a hand-held cleaner.
Between tank fills, the striding operator
acts out visibly important things, manfully
hammering the top soil with his boots. A gull
lands on and slithers down the roof
of Salubrious House, towards its nesting mate
beneath a chimney. They watch each other
while still apart, interrogative.
