Would you rather have NO treatment or equipment? Is that ethical?
Because that's where this emphasis on abstract standards &
insurance/legal-driven liability has taken us!
The incinerator option is simply institutionalized vandalism.
The one argument for rejection that holds water is an economic one.
It might well cost more to ship it out than to simply buy new from a local
importer!
I hadn't considered the veterinary option before, but this might be the best
answer.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Equipment
Dear list
Sorry for the late response to the thread
My view is that:
As healthcare professionals we are all bound by the code of practice, ethics
and morals irrespective of which continent in which we are in. If we can't
use expired products on our patients or pets by the vets in the UK, we
couldn't be able to use them in Africa either or else in the world. If any
if us was to practice anywhere else out of UK we would still be governed by
the code of practice and ethics and I would like to believe one would not
use expired stuff.
My suggestion is that expired equipment should be sent to the incinerator or
if one is an Eco warrior then feel free to send to the recycling centre.
