medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
hi James,
i went over and took a look at your project site,
http://tot-pen.org
including browsing through the mss. to see if anything looked interesting to
me.
choosing a ms. totally at random, i now find myself the "Group Leader" for the
Vat_graec_1209_ project.
yikes!
my ms. Greek is pretty dodgy, even at the best of times, and i'm afraid that
you folks aren't paying enough for me to do some serious Learning.
so, in keeping with the basic principle of a Beta version, i can only suggest
that there be inserted on the site somewhere the option to Resign (without
Prejudice) from a project.
this useful feature should especially be available for illiterate Group
Leaders.
at present, there is nothing among the mss. listed which catches my interest,
but i'll try and check back from time to time to see what has been added.
best of luck with the project, and Keep Us Posted on its progress.
christopher

Subject: [M-R] Beta Testers wanted for T-PEN
> medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
>
> Dear All:
>
> T-PEN, a new digital tool that supports transcription and scholarly
> editing, has entered its beta-release phase. We are looking for scholars
> who would like to test its functionality and usability. Currently, we
> provide access to over 2,600 manuscripts from e-codices, CEEC, the Parker
> Collection (subscription required), Assisi, and the Houghton Library
> (Harvard). We are planning to add more repositories by the end of the
> development period.
>
> If you are interested in helping us with testing, point your browser
> tot-pen.org.
> You can click on the "learn more" to gain further details, or click on
> "Request an account" to get started.
>
> All that we ask of our testers is patience. While the application is
> stable (and no transcription data will be lost), you will encounter bugs
> from time to time. There is a bug-reporting link built into each page at
> the bottom right of the screen window, where you can easily report a bug.
>
> It may take a day or two to activate an account request. We are adding
> testers in batches on a daily basis, so we can test the server load as we
> roll T-PEN out.
>
> Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
>
> Oh, T-PEN is free and will stay that way!
