> Description
>
> The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers from North-America and Europe in order to exchange the latest findings and insights concerning transparency and open government. This transatlantic conference on transparency research follows up on the 1st Global Conference on Transparency Research which was held in Newark (NJ) in May 2011. We explicitly aim to bring together scholars from various disciplines such as public administration, law, political science, journalism, sociology, etc.
>
> The conference aims to bring together leading scholars from both North-America and Europe to collectively advance our understanding of the impact and implications of transparency policies. Topics to be included are studies of policies on access to information held by and about governments, investigations of transparency relationships between government entities and theoretical, normative and empirical analyses of access to information held by government about individuals. Papers are invited on any of the above issues.
>
> Possible topics include:

>
> The program committee for the conference welcomes proposals that feature high quality conceptual, qualitative or quantitative research. Empirical proposals will be evaluated based on the significance and quality of the research question, research design, methods, data, findings, and implications for theory and practice. The program committee also welcomes conceptual proposals without qualitative or quantitative empirical components that develop a theory or theoretical framework.
>
> Proposals from individuals at all stages of their career are welcome. The conference committee will review all proposals and will make the final decisions on the acceptance or rejection of individual proposals. The proposal forms are available at http://www.transparencyconference.nl/proposals/ and should be submitted to Ms. Danielle Fictorie at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by December 1st, 2011.
>
> We will acknowledge receipt and answer all paper proposals submitted. If you do not receive a reply from us in a week, you can assume we did not receive your proposal for some reason. We would then suggest looking for an alternative electronic route or resending.
>
> Conference Language
>
> The working language for the conference is English. All conference presentations will be in English. Conference proposals must be submitted in English.
>
> Conference venue
>
> The conference will be held in the center of Utrecht.
