Hi everyone,
I am taking up the post of Curator (Digital Programme) at The
Photographers' Gallery in the new year, and will be responsible for
the programming and installation of a digital wall installed for the
relaunch of the gallery. I have some experience of the pitfalls and
problems of quite rigid hardware/media player set-ups, and am aware
that there is probably a wealth of experience accumulated by those of
you at MCG.
I would be keen to have a quick chat with any of you who have been
through a similar process and hear more about issues of maintenance/
content management/ pros and cons of the setups you may been involved
in. Alternatively, if you can direct me to any texts/resources on the
issue I would be most grateful. In a previous "digital gallery"
project in a University we worked with a company which was set up for
corporate digital signage, which was problematic (although many years
ago) - so if you can recommend any suppliers who are sensitive to the
needs of museums/galleries that would be great.
