Dear Crit Geogers
I just wanted to share the following web page with you that my students have produced because I thing they have done a great job and some of you may find it interesting. This page is part of their assessment for a geography course called Culture, Social Justice and Urban Space. The students come from a wide range of degree disciplines and are at level 2/3 (in a 3 year course). When we started the students, who are in Hong Kong, had not thought much about the markets. Many said they were dirty and didn't go there. As part of the task they had to visit and do participant observation in two different markets (there are many--even more than are on the map on the page). They also had to conduct one interview each (there are 53 students in the class). Most students had not done anything like this before, only 2 said they knew anything about making web pages, and most do not speak English as their first language. I think they have produced an interesting and informative web page that gives another side to the Hong Kong Landscape. Here is the link (it is a flash link so won't work on an iPad or iPhone, sorry).
