Might be of some interest?
Margot Osborne the guest editor of our March issue is looking for a
someone who has been thinking and writing about aspects of maths in
natural forms, such as in fractals and chaos theory and perhaps the
adoption of these structures and mindsets by artists.
I dont think she is too concerned if the writer does not cite examples
of art works and artists, but is more interested in observations about
the convergence of thinking, and speculations about why this is
happening at the present time. She and I both have an open mind about
how the topic could be tackled, so would be interested in any
proposals.
The length of a potential article is around 1700 words and we would
need it in by late December if possible. There is a fee of $AUD300 per
1000 words. There is some urgency about locating a writer and working
with them towards confirming an article, and I do apologise for the
short notice.
The magazine which is titled PATTERN AND COMPLEXITY will be released
at the end of February and launched during the Adelaide Festival,
together with a small exhibition of the same name curated by Margot at
the RiAus which is an offshoot of the Royal Institute in London.
Looking forward to hearing any thoughts you may have on this!
Please have a look at the Artlink website for info on our back issue
themes. You will see that we have had several over the years on art
and scientific themes, including Art & Medicine, and The Improved
Body.
