Hi Tina,
We have the red cord on the transfer side of the toilet in the Design for
Access 2 (local authority and MDPAG) standards and manual in Manchester,
which was agreed by Building Control, as most wheelchair users we spoke
with felt it was easier to reach if you fell as it was likely that falls
would happen in the transfer space.
I know it is different from BS8300 and Building Regs but it is usually
difficult if not impossible to reach emergency cords which are in a narrow
space, especially as they are usually installed near the back wall, if you
fall in the transfer space.
I totally agree with everyone about training and procedures for cleaning
staff about not tying up the cord!
Best wishes
Flick
> Hi Tina,
