PhD position available
Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University Lausanne
and
Centre for Biomedical Imaging, EPFL, Lausanne
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Applications are invited for a PhD-student position at the neuroimaging lab LREN (University Lausanne) and the ultra high field magnetic resonance (MR) physics core at the CIBM (Centre for Biomedical Imaging), EPFL. The focus of the position is on MR sequence development and image processing for studying the anatomy and function of cortico-subcortical circuits and their role in movement disorders (Parkinson’s disease, dystonia).
Research in LREN is focused on human brain structure and function with the main goal creating robust and accurate predictive models for early diagnosis and clinical outcome in neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases. CIBM focuses on technology and sequence development with the aim to improve our understanding of the basis of brain tissue contrast and its characterization.
The candidates should have a degree in Biomedical Engeneering, Neuroinformatics, or a related area. Experience in anatomical MRI (data acquisition, processing, statistics) and programming skills (Matlab, C/C++) are desirable.
This post is based in the CIBM ultra high field magnetic resonance (MR) physics core working with the state-of-art 7T human scanner (www.cibm.ch) and at LREN, a multi-disciplinary research team at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences (www.unil.ch/lren). The department has a research-dedicated Siemens Tim Trio 3T MRI scanner.
Please address questions or send CV, letter of application with research interests, and three references to José P. Marques ([log in to unmask]) and Bogdan Draganski ([log in to unmask]). Applications will be considered until position is filled. Starting date is negotiable, though it can begin as early as November 2011.
