This is a reminder about DevXS (http://devxs.org), a FREE student
(undergrad and post-grad) UK developer event which is focused on
students building things that could help contribute to university life.

We already have students/tutors from 27 universities represented, see:
http://devxs.blogs.lincoln.ac.uk/2011/10/10/mapping-devxs/

Please *help* to us to make sure students know about it by forwarding
this email on to other relevant lists, telling others, or even printing
off a poster and putting it somewhere visible where students/their
tutors can see it!

See: http://devxs.org/assets

We actively encourage you to speak to computer science tutors, who are
also welcome to attend, as long as they bring along some students!.
Tutors might be able to organise a team of students to attend (e.g.
travelling by minibus, car share etc).

Here are some of the exciting speakers/facilitators already confirmed:

- Richard Jones - Python developer at Cottage Labs
- Garry Bulmer - Ardunino wizardry
- Mark MaGilivray - Open Knowledge Foundation
- Tony Hirst - Mashup Guru, Open University
- Phil Sturgeon - PHP Developer, Freelance
- Christopher Gutteridge and Dave Challis- Open Data evangelists from
the University of Southampton
- Professor Peter McOwan from Queen Mary's London - who will be running
a Computer Science Magic show

For a draft programme, please see:

http://devxs.org/agenda

DevXS is about students sharing their ideas, mashing up data and
building prototypes that improve, challenge and positively disrupt the
research, teaching and learning landscapes of further and higher education.

We're going to award prizes to the best ideas, prototypes and
collaborations and there are going to be developers from universities
around the country hanging around to help students out.

So if you are a student (undergraduate or postgraduate) or a tutor,
please register for this event as soon as possible, places are limited
and it is a fantastic opportunity to improve your CV and work with some
of the best young developers in the country, it may make you a better
developer!

Register now before it is too late:

http://devxs.org/register

We will provide free accommodation on the night of the 11th (twin rooms)
and then a relaxation zone on the 12th (bring your sleeping bag!). There
will also be free food and refreshments!

For more information about the event, please see:
