Hello, (and thanks to Bryony Millan at National Portrait Gallery for suggesting posting here) I am wondering if anyone in this group would be able to provide, or suggest, a repository for my late dad’s personal archives and research?
Richard F. Dell was latterly Regional Archivist for Strathclyde Region in Scotland in the 1970s and 1980s before retiring, having previously held archivist posts in Glasgow, Leeds, Reading and Lewes from the 1950s onwards. Among his personal passions was research on medieval scripts, and I believe he may have some carried out some original research related to the following areas:
(1) The Eadwine Psalter
(2) Marginals and Decorated Initials in medieval texts
(3) Sir John Harington & Orlando Furioso
(4) The Utrecht Psalter
(5) English Caroline Miniscule c950-1200AD
(6) The Chronicon of Eusebius & Writings of Jerome 5th Century
(7) Insular Gospels
(8) Lindisfarne Gospels
(9) The Canterbury School of Illumination
(10) Opera Eadwini Monachi Cantuarensis
(11) English MSS in the century after Norman Conquest
(12) Bury Abbey MSS
(13) St Albans Abbey manuscripts
I am keen that these papers are deposited somewhere for safekeeping and study to see if any new and original findings are contained in them. Any help gratefully received.
