Dear Julia,
Reichstein & Pieper (1986) developed metrical criteria to distinguish
greylag goose (Anser anser) from domestic goose on the finds from
Haithabu. If you are interested in these I can send you the chapter
of their book as a PDF off-list.
If this is of general interest I can also offer to ask Hans
Reichstein if he is willing to share the chapter publically on Bone
Commons.
