Dear Ken,
This is very interesting and it make my interest in all aspects. Thank
you for this.
There is a group on Facebook called Light Repositories
(https://www.facebook.com/groups/126670444026467/), and there is a
quest for finding the Holy Grail of repositories. The terms of this
quest for us are the following:
1. It has to be flexible in architecture providing means for scalability
2. It has to be non intrusive conflicting with other stacks installed
on a machine
3. It has to build on preexisting filing structures and not to impose
organisational models
4. Should have a metadata interpreting and exchange core able to
detect, harvest and exchange in and from diverse shemas
5. Should have a powerful indexing engine
6. Should have an auto referencing engine (unique ID allocation)
7. Should have a web publishing component.
8. Should allow arbitrary organisation of colection on as many levels
of access an operator might chose
9. Should be easily built on the scripting languages of choice
10. Should be very well documented
11. Should be open-source
12. Should be accessible for visual and reading impaired persons
Please, let us know how is this developing further.
Thank you,
