Perm part time role at the National Trust
About the role
We protect everything from bats to buildings to beaches – and we want to share them with everyone too. But how do we care for special places and help everyone enjoy them and their fascinating stories? It’s no small feat. In fact, it’s a big team effort. And, as part of our talented conservation team, you’ll provide support and expertise in the maintenance of GIS and digital mapping, making sure data is better shared across the whole trust.
As Conservation Data Officer, you enjoy making data easier to understand. You also love getting stuck into new challenges with your analytical eye. Enthusiastic and ambitious, your data management know-how inspires others. You’ll be on hand to help and train other staff and volunteers, who’ll be accurately recording relevant information. Your advice will have a real impact on the way people think about data, so it’s important that you’ve the confidence to put your bright ideas forward.
We’ll help you develop your skills and career, if that’s something you’re keen to do. We’ll give you some great benefits too, including free admission to all our incredible places (that’s you and your family), and a helpful 20% off at our shops, cafes and restaurants. Not to mention a competitive pension scheme and flexible working. But they’re just the benefits we can tell you about here. There’s lots more at www.nationaltrustrewardsandbenefits.org.uk
About you
Conservation data is your area of expertise. You love data. Collecting it, analysing it, interpreting it and talking about it. We’d also like you to have a relevant qualification or equivalent knowledge. But more importantly, you’ll have an impressive track record in GIS, cartographic and information management systems. And, you’ll always be thinking up new ways for us to improve our ways of working around data collection and analysis.
About us
Here at the National Trust, we want even more people to enjoy our extraordinary places, spaces and collections. We want people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved with them, be inspired by them, and love them as much as we do. That’s why we’ve put some bold ambitions in place. We want everyone in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to feel like a member of the National Trust and, by 2020, we want to have grown our membership to more than five million.
