Hi Arthur,
We have found a plug-in that allows Macs to view PDF's - here are the details:
Go to http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/ and download. Do not worry if it seems that there is a cost. Look for the ‘educational’ use – which is free.
Hope that helps!

Subject: Open PDFs on a Mac
Hi,
Staff have reported that, on a Mac (using Safari and Firefox), they cannot open PDFs that have been uploaded via the File option. A "Plugin needed" message is displayed.
I have asked Support to investigate and they are doing so. Has anyone on the list experienced this problem?
The weird thing is that there is no problem opening PDFs that have been uploaded via the Item template.
regards,
Arthur Loughran
