Institute of Education Archives
The Institute of Education holds collections of archive materials ranging in date from 1797 to the present day. The archives are intended to reflect the broadest possible range of issues and concerns surrounding teaching and lifelong learning in past, present and future societies. We hold deposited collections relating to a wide range of subjects including school architecture, progressive education, biography, international and comparative education, child psychology, and women’s history, and of course, we also hold the archive of the Institute itself. On the afternoon of the visit you will see examples from a number of collections, find out about our about our work and activities, and hear about our current project; cataloguing the papers of the National Union of Women Teachers.
If you fancy a bit of background reading before the day please have a look at the Newsam News library and archive blog, and Kathryn Hannan’s enlightening project blog on her work with the record of the NUWT.
AfL visits are open to members (£5.00) and non-members (£8.00).
