In SW Iran I observed wild pigs in the mountains around Izeh. They
were active at night in the summer with temperatures above 38 with a
maximum of 50. They yarded up in vegetation around standing water
during the day. They foraged on the hill sides at night. They could
do very heavy damage to catch crops of grain put in by the Bakhtiari
Nomads. The nomads and villagers erected "scare-pigs to try to keep
the pigs out of the fields.
This area is a semi-arid steppe. The pigs also fed on wild tubers.
