Hi all,
It was lovely to meet so many of you at the WAN Walkie-Talkie event in July, do a bit of walking plus sharing lots of new ideas. I've been reading the emails from you all with interest.
I wanted to let you know about a project I'm working on called Look Up at the Sky [http://www.lookupatthesky.co.uk/], exploring the peace and the pauses in London. Starting from Hampton Court and aiming eastwards, I have been walking bridge to bridge along the River Thames and writing about the experience, as well as collaborating with other writers and artists.
I’m now reaching the close of the project and would like to invite you all to join me on the last walk from Greenwich to the Thames Barrier (approx 1.5 hours) on Sunday 16, 23 or 30 October 2011.
For the event, I'll bring a group of people together at a designated point in Greenwich to meet and discuss the project. Then I'll set everyone on the route to take in the journey at their own pace - with a notebook, a camera, a paintbrush, a basket to fill with flowers, or maybe just a map.
It'll be very informal as the main aim is to encourage people to walk along the river and observe this facinating part of London, ending up at the Thames Barrier visitor centre (where there's a nice cafe, apparently!)
I'd also be keen to create a piece of collaborative writing with contributions from all involved, as well as show other images, etc on the website.
So far I have a small group of poets, writers, photographers and artists joining me. Fancy coming along too? I’ll go with the most popular date, go to http://whenshouldwe.com/polls/qyjmsf/participants to register your interest and let me know by email.
All the best and happy walking,
Gemma
