Dear All - I've had a message from Joppa books this week about copies of
Melcom publications they have in store - apparently about 15 years ago
Joppa Books agreed to store stocks of 6 titles published by Melcom (UK). At
the time that they offered storage space they understood that the books
would otherwise be pulped.
At a Melcom Committee meeting some time later, Nadeem el-Issa indicated
that they would not be able to provide storage space indefinitely, and
verbal permission was given to dispose of the books in any convenient way.
However they hesitated to destroy the books at that time.
The remaining stocks comprise a considerable number of volumes and, with
changing circumstances, this space for storage will not remain available
beyond the end of January 2012.
If anyone concerned with the books wishes to make some suggestion for
storing them or disposing of them, or if any of the authors would like
copies to be sent to them, please let them know. They would be happy to
send a copy on request, post free, to any of the authors. If other
individuals or libraries would like copies they would charge for shipping.
Otherwise, they would be glad to have permission in writing to dispose of
the books.
Please get in touch with Joppa directly if you want copies of these - I've
attached the list.
Later on MELCOM will need to decide what to do long-term about the
situation - suggestions welcome.
Best wishes,
Catherine Ansorge, Secretary. MELCOM (UK.)
