Registrations are open for a set of three linked one-day workshops on
research methods for library and information science professionals.
These are offered *free of charge* as part of the AHRC-funded
Developing Research Excellence and Methods (DREaM) project. The
DREaM project aims to establish a sustainable network of LIS researchers.
LIS professionals from all sectors with an interest in LIS research
and in learning about research methods are welcome to register for the
workshops as a set of three.
The first workshop takes place at Edinburgh Napier University on
Tuesday 25th October 2011. It includes introductory sessions on
ethnography, social network analysis, discourse analysis, and research
ethics and legal issues. The full programme and speaker details can be
found at
http://lisresearch.org/dream-project/dream-event-2-workshop-tuesday-25-october-2011/
The subsequent events, each of which will cover further broad research
approaches, qualitative and quantitative techniques and research
practicalities, take place:
* British Library London, Monday 30th January 2012
* Edinburgh Napier University, Wednesday 25th April 2012
New professionals (who have joined the profession since 2007) and PhD
students who register are also invited to apply for one of six £150
travel bursaries to support participation in the project. The deadline
for bursary applications is Tuesday 4th October. Please indicate your
eligibility to apply for a bursary when you register for the
workshops.
