Hi all,
The University of Birmingham is tightening up the parking rules for "on
campus" parking and increasing the car parking prices from £1 per day to
£6 per day for the two car parks on the edges of the campus which students
are usually allowed to use. Alongside these changes we're finding
previous recommendations for disabled students who don't have a blue badge
aren't being accepted at all or as easily as before.
What is the policy of your institutions and disability departments with
regards to parking on campus or close to teaching areas for students with
genuine disability need for it but who do not have a blue badge?
Is there any difference if the student's DSA Needs Assessment recommends
"close by parking" or if they have a letter from a medical professional?
Am I right in believing blue badges are not given out by consistent
UK-wide criteria?
I'm happy for replies to be on or off list.
Many thanks,
Natalya
