Hi. I think it is unfair to say
"communities fighting their councils over library provision seem to think that the workers inside them aren't needed"
As a national and local campaigner I have seen a very different story. Communities do think about library staff are needed and they do value them, it is more often the local authorities, and indeed central government who do not. They are the ones telling people "run the library yourself or lose it". When delivered this ultimatum communities are being left with very few options.
Well done to WI for speaking up for staff though. I too would like to see this "evidence" that people want to run their own libraries as I have seen none of it.
