Dear All,
I'm thinking of a vacuum chamber with an internal grating for dispersion of light in the 100-200 nm range. The canonical approach would be an oil less pumping system (i.e. turbo pump). However, I have some on-hand mechanical/diff pumps which I wonder if I could use if a liq nitrogen trap was between the vacuum chamber and the pumps. Could I safely assume that this measure would fully protect the optics from any degradation due to oil vapor?
If this is a safe route, it would be convenient to use a combination cryotrap/gate valve. I know of one that Varian used to produce (951-5212), which is still available at used sites. Does any vendor currently sell cryotrap gate valves?
Thanks and cheers
