Thanks to all who responded to my message of 12 August 2011 about Books + CD-ROMs. Here is a summary of the responses:-
1. Do you put any kind of label on the front of the book to indicate that there is a CD-ROM inside?
- Most respondents do not put a label on the book.
2. Do you trigger these discs?
- Half of respondents trigger the CD-ROM, half don't. One places a dummy RFID tag on it.
3. Do you check for them on return, particularly if you have a self-sorter?
- Half of respondents do check, half don't.
4. How do you affix easily detachable CD-ROM pockets into the book?
- Respondents use sellotape, double-sided sticky tape or a paper CD wallet.
5. If you also moved from split records to single records, what did you do when extra copies of the same title were ordered, i.e. when existing stock had separate records for the book and CD-ROM, but the new stock was going to remain together?
- Most respondents re-inserted the CD-ROMs into the accompanying books and deleted all the separate CD-ROM records.
Thanks for your help!
