Invitation to the ORCID outreach meeting. Geneva. September 16th.
The Open Researcher & Contributor ID (ORCID, http://orcid.org) initiative represents a community effort to establish an open, independent, registry for unique author identifiers. ORCID Outreach Meetings are open to everybody interested in unique author identifiers in general and ORCID in particular. The next ORCID Outreach Meeting takes place Friday, September 16 at CERN (Geneva, Switzerland) from 10 AM to 5 PM and can be attended in person or virtually. In the morning we will hear about the status of technical development of ORCID – including a demo of the prototype - and business model discussions. In the afternoon we will have several open discussions on how ORCID can help researchers, repositories, libraries, data centers and funding agencies. There will be significant time for Q&A on all aspects of the initiative.
In addition to ORCID staff and board, invited speakers include Cameron Neylon (Science & Technology Facilities Council), Jan Brase (DataCite), and Carlos Morais-Pires (European Commission).
The event is free to attend, more info and registration at http://www.orcid.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=2 .
