We are currently recruiting a Geospatial Information Scientist at Dstl (Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) part of the Ministry of Defence. Dstl’s purpose is “to maximise the impact of science and technology for the defence and security of the United Kingdom”.
This position will combine experience of applied geospatial information management and exploitation with an understanding of Defence Intelligence and Surveillance activities. You will have the opportunity to apply these skills in supporting current UK operations whilst contributing more widely to national security by working at the forefront of the MOD’s science, technology and procurement programmes.
This Geospatial Information Scientist role within the ISTAR Group will provide the opportunity to influence the development and progress of UK MODs aspirations to deliver an enhanced Spatial Data Infrastructure. This role, therefore, provides an opportunity to make a difference to the way that geospatial information and services are developed, accessed and exploited across MOD by contributing to a number of key geospatial programmes across the Defence Enterprise.
As a geospatial information scientist you will primarily be supporting programmes within the ISTAR domain. Your focus will be in developing our approach to future geospatial information exploitation and analysis, thereby supporting the far reaching geospatial community in realising a step change in capability. You will be carrying out cutting edge research activities working closely with key stakeholders across MOD in defining requirements and working with industry representatives to deliver key capability solutions.
