Subject: Website supporting & promoting participatory research
Please see details below:
Why Simple Theory?
Simple Theory is the result of an idea some students had when thinking about making theories easier to understand for people involved in social research. As a group, we have a committment to participatory/emancipatory research and we wanted to make a resource to support people involved in this kind of research.
What is Simple Theory?
Simple Theory is an open source, multi-media project. It is not affiliated to any academic institution, carries no advertising and receives no funding. All content is generated by people donating knowledge and time in order to promote emancipatory and participatory research methods.
Over time there will be entries explaining various research terms at many levels from the most simple to graduate level. Simple Theory will also provide a platform to disseminate findings in various forms from emancipatory/participatory research that may not get published in traditional formats.
Want to get involved?
We need contributions! You can contribute either via the forum or by contacting us directly. We are looking for contributions in any format including video, photographs, drawings, powerpoint presentations, text or any other format you can think of. Contributions can be anonymous or you can put your name to them.
Contributions can be made in any of the following areas:
News: Tell us about your research, results, presentations and publications.
Explaining research: Do you know a good way to explain a research method or a social theory to people who are not trained in research? Share it!
Results of participatory research: If you have taken part in some research and want to share findings, you can post them here!
Discussion groups: There is a forum to contribute or share news, definitions of theories and results until we think of a better way. The forum can also be used as an interactive resource for participatory/emancipatory research. Sharing problems and solutions helps us all!
Accessibility
We hope this website is fully accessible, but we are still learning. If you can see a problem contact [log in to unmask] and we will try and fix it. If someone is doing a project on internet accessibility and wants a real live website to practice on, then contact us!
