> REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the 3rd Annual PhD Criminology Conference 'Emerging Research in European Criminology'.
>
> This year the third annual Postgraduate Criminology Conference will be held at the University of Edinburgh Law School on September 15th and 16th 2011. This follows on from the inaugural conference at the University of Oxford in 2009, and the second PhD Criminology conference held at the University of Cambridge in 2010.
>
> In order for postgraduates from across Europe to engage in discussion about emerging research interests in criminology, papers for this conference have been drawn from across this broad field and will feature on themed student panels on the following topics; Researching the Vulnerable, Priorities in Policing Research, Recent Issues in Crime and Politics, Methodological Challenges in Advancing Criminology, Organised Crime, Understanding Penal Landscapes, The Prison Environment and Researching Fringe Criminality.
>
> As in previous years, the conference will also include plenary speeches and an expert panel on postgraduate issues. This year Professor Susanne Karstedt of the University of Leeds will be speaking on 'European Ways of Justice? Exploring Common Values, Different Principles and Multiple Trajectories' and Professor Fergus McNeill of the University of Glasgow will give a paper on 'Reflecting on Criminology with (some help from) Aristotle, Copernicus and Pascal'.
>
> Our expert panel will this year focus on Post PhD Options and Opportunities with Prof Fergus McNeill (University of Glasgow), Dr Anna Souhami (University of Edinburgh) and Dr Richard Jones (University of Edinburgh).
>
> We hope that this variety of events will provide an ideal forum to meet other postgraduate criminology students and to gain an insight into research taking place across Europe today.
