Dear Colleagues
The Jersey Archive is looking to start a campaign to gather together local politicians' political papers. The problem is that there are 53 current politicians in the States Assembly and also a lot more retired members so we have to be quite selective about what we want to collect. When it comes to elections it is relatively easy as we are able to collect manifestos and any related material. However, when it comes to a States member who has been a representative for a number of years it becomes more difficult. We are the official repository of the States of Jersey so we already have official records from the States Assembly so do not want duplications of proposals, minutes etc. Does anyone have experience of collecting the papers of local politicians? I would be interested in any experiences of the kind of material that was collected, what was kept and what was not, closure periods etc. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Stuart
