Dear Dr John,
Regarding your letter, whereas I appreciate your point that a meeting
report should provide information for readers who were unable to make
the meeting; having been collared previously to write feedback for a
meeting for the ACB news, I personally found it very difficult to make
the article interesting and also had to use backgropund information on
the speakers. Generally, the guidelines you are given are "write a
couple of sides on..."
We should be encouraging our trainees and junior members of the
profession; not shooting them down in public.
Regards,
Sally Brady (Trainee)

Denied a voice in the ACBNews - the Editors declined to publish my
letter - so I offer it here.
"To the Editor
After reading a recent Meeting Report: Nutrition, Fluid and Bones,
Issue 577, May 2011, I was reminded of Salman Rushdie’s comment on his
good friend Christopher Hitchens’s then new book “God is not
great” in that the title could have been more economical and
contain one less word. This report would not have been more enlightening
had it lost all its words. It is a waste to just list the content of
speaker’s presentation or list speaker’s well known personal
history. Meeting reports need to be factually informative for people who
were not at the meeting and require good editorial review to maintain
quality.
Yours sincerely

As a matter of interest, how many read the Meeting Report? Replies to
me please and I will collate.
With best wishes
Rhys
