Wysing Arts Centre
Join us over the weekend of 23 and 24 July, 12-5pm, for our annual Open
Weekend:
10 artists will be opening their studios and in our Open Studio there will
be a curated group exhibition of work by Wysing studio based artists.
In the gallery there will be a new work devised by curator Paul Pieroni in
collaboration with current artists-in-residence Mark Essen, Hilary-Koob
Sassen, Kate Owens and Damien Roach.
PIERONI HAS INVITED POET, SOUND AND VISUAL ARTIST LAWRENCE UPTON AND
VIOLIST AND COMPOSER BENEDICT TAYLOR TO INTERPRET SPECIFIC WORKS BY THE
ARTISTS.
The gallery presentation will include a video projection, resulting from
this unique collaboration, alongside the works themselves.
Wysing's 11 acre site will be open to enjoy, and includes the
semi-permanent sculptures Beehive Skyscraper (2010) by Bedwyr Williams,
Boulder Stage (2010) by Andy Holden and Amphis (2008) by Folke Kobberling
and Martin Kaltwasser.
There will be free family activity and cream teas by Cafe Abantu. We look
forward to seeing you!
