Hi Mike,

Did you migrate the old database across - preserving primary key values
for users, courses, etc. or did you do a fresh install on a new database
and then import/restore courses and users into it?

Unless you restored the database onto your new hardware, all the primary
key values will be reassigned. As these are used to match up data
between Blackboard and Turnitin I'm not surprised you are having
problems. Sadly I can see no easy fix either, as you have essentially
remapped the unique identifiers on the Blackboard side. Running two
Blackboard systems creates more problems as potentially you could have
two different users or courses with the same numeric primary key value
in the database. That will be why Turnitin want you to use a second
instance.

Sorry not to be able to offer an instant fix - wish I could.

Malcolm.

As for finding courses that have used Turnitin, you could look in the
COURSE_CONTENT folder (or something similar) for items that have a
content handle or primary key that matches one of the Turnitin content
types. That would identify any course that has used it. From there you
should be able to load course memberships to get the staff.

Subject: Turnitin accounts and upgrading

Hi All

We are upgrading to version 9.1 SP6 from version 8. We are a Turnitin
Building block user, and we understand from TurnitinUK that we may have
to create a new sub account in Turnitin for the new version. This is to
prevent user conflicts which can occur if the Blackboard users tables
are not exactly the same on both systems. As a result staff will not be
able to access historic Turnitin data from 9.1, and we would have to set
something up on the Submit.ac.uk account instead. This is complicated
further for us as we are running the system in parallel for a short
period.

Has anyone else come across this issue when upgrading? Any advice?

On a related note, does anyone know how we can run a report/query
showing all the course Ids for courses in Blackboard that have used the
Turnitin Integration? Ideally we would like the email addresses for the
academics associated with those courses as well so that we can contact
the relevant users and put contingencies in place for them.

Best wishes

Mike Cameron
