Bath Record Office has just completed the cataloguing of a small but very significant collection of family and business papers, with the help of a grant from the National Cataloguing Grant Fund. The collection relates to the Langton family, originally Irish landowners, who settled in Cadiz, Spain, in the early eighteenth century, and who later took refuge in Bath during the Peninsular War. It includes a fascinating series of letters sent between Bath and Cadiz between 1809 and 1815; transcriptions of all these letters have been put on the Record Office website at http://www.batharchives.co.uk/explore_the_archives/langton_family_papers.aspx .
The catalogue, together with catalogues of a small collection of research papers relating to the Langton family, and of a small collection of deeds which include a property owned by the family, can be found on our online catalogue at http://www1.somerset.gov.uk/DServe/DServe.exe?dsqApp=Archive&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqCmd=Search.tcl (the references for the three collections are 0770, 0770A, and 0851).
