medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I've been puzzling for some time over a 'St Thomas of Hynde' depicted in a fragment of stained glass at Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd (Denbighshire, north Wales). I think I may even have mentioned him on this list. Susan Davies, former head of Palaeography at Aberystwyth, has suggested he may in fact be 'Thomas of Ynde', i.e. Thomas of India, Thomas the Apostle.
No photo online, alas, though I do have a slide (somewhere)

> Leo II, pope (d. 683)...
Further to Leo II: From the early Middle Ages until 1921 Leo was commemorated on 28. June, the day of his laying to rest as given by Anastasius Bibliothecarius. In the ninth century Wandelbert of Prüm and Usuard used this day for a Leo who from their descriptions of him as _doctor_ could be thought instead to be Leo I (then chiefly a saint of 11. April). According to Papebroch (_AA. SS._, Junii tomus V, col. 374), starting in the pontificate of Paschal II (1099-1118) medieval copies of Usuard altered his notice so as to make it clear that the Leo of 28. June was Leo II.
Leo II as depicted in a later fourteenth-century (ca. 1370) Roman Missal of north Italian origin (Avignon, Bibliothèque-Médiathèque Municipale Ceccano, ms. 136, fol. 248v):
