Dear all,
Please find in the below link an article written by myself and Des Freedman on the White Paper.

MeCCSA will of course be writing responses to the various consultations that will ensue from this. If you have any comments on the White Paper that relate particularly to our subjects then please post them to me by the 6 September so we can collate and include them. There are two consultations that have been launched immediately on the back of the White Paper - the first a general response to the whole package; the second on the potential for early repayment mechanisms:

I would also like to receive updates on how the cuts/fees/privatisation regime is beginning to impact on your departments, institutions and yourselves as individual academic/academic-related staff. Please let me have any information or commentary on whatever you think is relevant - this could range from redundancies (or extra posts), course closures (or launching of new courses), freeze on posts, increase (or decrease) in staff/student ratios, University/departmental strategies developed directly in relation to the new regime.
BY 6 SEPTEMBER PLEASE
I hope everyone also manages to take time to forget about it all for at least a short time over the summer...
Very best
Natalie Fenton (MeCCSA Executive)
