Hi

Yes we have similar issues with admin staff in the faculties setting up lists for their academics.

Thanks Ian.

This is an issue that has come up mainly because some departments are intending to do some initial work on behalf of academics to get lists set up - so an administrator, or more typically a graduate student will be creating bookmarks and lists for the academics. The problem that then arises is that the individual academics don't have the bookmarks for future use (say if they set up a new module, but with virtually the same readings - which does happen quite often here, e.g. what was a PG course is also offered as a final year UG course).

I like the idea of a 'Add all resources to my bookmarks' option. I think that would probably suit our lot, but would be interested to hear if any other institutions think it would be useful - particularly places where the library has been creating lists, but plans to pass this on to academics at some point...

Cheers,

June

June,

As you say, the only option really at the moment is to go to the resource and click 'Copy to My Bookmarks', as shown in this video.

http://support.talisaspire.com/entries/515866-bookmarking-a-resource-from-a-list-within-talis-aspire

I think we avoided a 'bulk' option of doing this as there's no way of knowing if the academic would actually want all of those in their bookmarks going forward - maybe they only want a few which they use on several modules and won't actually need any of the others again. What are academics telling you? Are there scenarios where they do need all bookmarks from 'day one'? It may be a case to have some form of 'Add all resources on this list to my bookmarks' option put into ideas.

The only other idea of some relevance here I can think of is http://ideas.talisaspire.com/forums/32805-campus-edition-ideas/suggestions/406907-allow-users-to-create-lists-from-a-set-of-shared-r.

Cheers

Ian
