We have permanent vacancy available for a Library Support Assistant: Training and Outreach (Band 4 - £18,402 - £21,798) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The post holder will participate in all training activities of the Library and support the work of the Library Trainer. They will also undertake basic literature searches, provide drop in training sessions and offer clerical support to the outreach project, including producing the Library newsletter. The post also involves working as part of the Library team at busy service points.

Qualifications and Training:
Library and information Science NVQ level 3 or equivalent knowledge and experience
RSA typing III or ECDL or equivalent
Good standard of secondary education Skills
IT skills - Excel/Word for Windows XP - very confident user
Email - very confident user
Internet - very confident user
Organisational skills
Able to prioritise
Good time management skills
Able to work to timescales
Self motivated
Able to problem solve
Good Interpersonal skills
Effective communication at all levels both verbal and written, together with the ability to relate to staff, peers, medical staff, and other professional groups and external bodies
Good numerical skills
Knowledge/Other:
Good team worker
Ability to work on own initiative
Good knowledge of Information Technology use with a Library
Good knowledge of journals management; paper based and electronic access
Good knowledge of Copyright and Data protection laws relating to Libraries
Working knowledge of an automated Library Management System, including Circulation, ILL and Cataloguing functions
Cataloguing standards, including AACR2, MARC21 and Wessex classification system
Experience:
2 years post qualification experience in NHS, academic or special Library including at least four of the following areas :searching of electronic resources, information retrieval training, cataloguing and classifying, basic literature searches, reader services, serials management
Experience of troubleshooting general IT problems
Working in distributed teams
