Before settling on the charging structure for our new financial year I have been sampling costs from external suppliers.
It seems that there is a much broader range of pricing for copies than there ever was in the past. I was actually quite surprised by the variation.
Examples:
Copy Cost 6.85 + vat (20%)1.37
Actual £8.22
Copy Cost 8.40 + vat (20%)1.68
Actual £10.08
Copy Cost 7.20 + vat (20%)1.44
Actual £8.64
Copy Cost 6.40 + vat (20%)1.28
Actual £7.68
Copy Cost 5.95 + vat (20%)1.19
Actual £7.14
Copy Cost 5.50 + vat (20%)1.10
Actual £6.60
We charge our internal departments direct costs but I am reluctant to begin using a sliding scale according to individual supplier charges.
We are currently only charging at the lower end of the scale.
I would like to know:
* Do you have one price for customer copies or charge according to supplier cost?
* Are you passing the increases on or absorbing them into general library budgets
* If libraries are intending to increase supply charges for 2011/12? (can you publicize to the list please)
If anyone is interested I can collate general replies to the list.
Thanks
Caroline
