At the college where I work, ESOL learners are asked to bring in
evidence of their immigration status (passport or equivalent) to prove
their eligibility for SFA funding. But learners on other SFA-funded
courses are not asked to show this proof.
In my experience, this is common practice.
Is there anyone out there who works somewhere where all learners on all
SFA-funded courses have to provide this proof?
If the practice at my institution is commonplace, do we find it
acceptable, or is it a subtle form of racism?
