Very interesting. I wonder if this could be used with my other elderly(-ish) people with MS etc wanting to learn Windows.

What about contacting the local Secondary or 6th form - many of them running AsDAn programmes and even mentor on the Digital Literacy programme for the Go Digital projects

Ie - 6th formers going to old folks homes to teach residents how to Skype email etc

The ones that have worked well are teh ones doing Duke of Edinburgh

But I would have thought this was ideal for an ICT group at GCSE level and how they might be able to help??

Marcus, Zoe et al
Thanks a lot. Sounds like there's a good solution for this client.

A further question. Who do you get to put 250 cds on to mp3 in a household with no computer & only a septuagenarian technophobe carer? (not intending to be ageist but you get the picture?)

Hello all,

To add to Zoe's point we do have someone operating their iPod via a Logitech dock (PureFi?) with IR codes copied to an accessible control.

Also, I know it doesn't sound like an option for your client Barry but may be worth knowing anyway is that Rockbox - http://www.rockbox.org/ provides the option of having menus and folders/files announced. Used it myself on my old iRiver H140 player. Rockbox works on a number of older players and it looks as though they are continuing to develop it for newer players too.

Thanks, Marcus.

Hi Barry would you be able to post this on Assistech - it doesn't like my married email and I haven't got time to sort it just at the moment.

Hi Barry

I know there are things like this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4322 or http://cnettv.cnet.com/make-your-ipod-talk-you/9742-1_53-50003897.html but not very accessible. You could maybe find an infra red dock for IPod which would enable you to scroll without needing to use the fiddly buttons but would still let you hear voice announcements. I am sure other Mp3s do this as well.

Thanks

Zoe
