RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN MEDICAL STATISTICS

Salary in the range £33,734 to £37,990; funding available for up to 30 months.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical statistician with a demonstrated interest in developing and refining statistical methods for phase III randomised controlled trials.
The post-holder will work within the multi-disciplinary MRC ConDuCT Hub, at the School of Social and Community Medicine, University of Bristol. Its work is focused on developing methodological research for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) considered 'difficult' because of methodological complexity, clinical controversy, or recruitment challenges.
Potential areas of work include missing data, efficacy estimates, and interim analysis. There will also be collaborative work with other MRC trials methodology hubs and applied work in collaboration with the Bristol Randomised Trials Collaboration (BRTC) and other local clinical trials units.
The successful applicant's qualifications and experience will include (i) a higher degree (e.g. MSc) in statistics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; (ii) evidence of involvement in all statistical aspects of design, conduct, analysis and reporting of Phase III randomised trials; (iii) demonstrated ability to evaluate and refine statistical methods using real and/or simulated data; (iv) a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and of conference presentations.
