Senior Lecturer: Statistics Support and Advice
An exciting opportunity has arisen to contribute to the Statistics Advisory Service (SAS), which is part of sigma, a Centre for Excellence in University-wide mathematics and statistics support. We are looking for an excellent statistician with a breadth of knowledge to deliver support in experimental design, data collection and data analysis to project students (undergraduate and postgraduate) from all faculties. The post-holder will also deliver regular series of statistics workshops open to all research students and staff across the University.
An important part of this position is to raise awareness of the activities of the SAS and to maintain close contact with interested colleagues in all disciplines, creating a community of practice across the University.
There will also be the opportunity to carry out a small amount of lecturing and related duties for the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Engineering Science, and the post-holder will be strongly encouraged, with support from the Business Development Office, to establish a portfolio of funded consultancy, both external and within the University.
We are therefore looking for a first-rate statistician with strong communication and teaching abilities, excellent practical, problem-solving skills, and the flexibility to cope with whatever problems are presented to join the sigma team and lead the delivery of a high-quality service in this aspect of sigma's work.
