A postdoctoral position is available in Tucson, Arizona, in the joint laboratory of Professors Mark Smith and Andrei Sanov. The research project focuses on reactions and photoprocesses of cold molecular ions using a molecular beam-ion trap apparatus. The successful candidate will be employed through the University of Houston and report to Mark Smith, but work as a visiting scientist at the University of Arizona, under the immediate direction of Andrei Sanov. An ideal candidate for this position will be a motivated and creative experimentalist with a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics or related fields. Preference will be given to qualified individuals with experience in instrument design, gas-phase spectroscopy, kinetics, and high-vacuum systems.
The position is available immediately, but the starting date is negotiable. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the expectation of renewals, subject to mutual agreement and availability of continuing funding. The compensation package will be competitive, including health insurance and other employee benefits, with a salary of $45K per annum. Tucson, Arizona, is a great yet inexpensive place to live, with excellent climate and breathtaking outdoor scenery.
