Regisration for the 2011 annual conference of the Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France (ASMCF) closes on 1st July 2011. The conference will take place at Stirling University from 1-3 September 2011 and has a strong interdisciplinary focus. Under the broad conference theme 'Continuities and Discontinuities: France Across the Generations', there will be panels on topics including the following:
- Families onscreen
- Representing the city
- Youth culture and politics
- Filming across the generations
- Women in politics
- France's policy in Africa
- Regional geographies and politics
- Reflections on popular music
- Socialist legacies
- Juridico-legal affairs
- Memories, amnesia and trauma
- Shifting images of Algeria
- Afterlives of May '68

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
