University Lecturer in Political Science, temporary position 1.9.2011

The duties of the University Lecturer of Political Science are:
independent research in accordance with the strategic guidelines of
the disciplines of Political Science and International Relations and
the Faculty of Social Sciences; teaching and guidance of BA and MA
students together with other faculty; supervision of BA, MA and
doctoral theses in research groups and individually; administrative
duties related to teaching and research, and participation in the
development of the University of Lapland community.
The ‘politics’ disciplines taught at the University of Lapland consist
of International Relations and Political Science. With regard to the
currently open position of University Lecturer in Political Science,
specialisation in political theory is considered a merit.
Candidates for the position should have a relevant doctoral degree,
high quality scientific publications, and the ability to provide
high-quality research-based teaching and supervision.
Curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a teaching portfolio
should be attached to the applications.
The salary of University Lecturer is based on the salary system for
university teaching and research personnel, grades 5 to 7 (2714,54 € -
3662,25 € monthly), depending on qualifications and previous
experience of the applicant. Grade 7 requires that the applicant has
passed external review in qualification for a comparable university
lecturer’s position. In addition, a performance-based salary component
will be paid, which can amount to 46,3 % of the base salary at
maximum.
