Cambridgeshire Archives and Local Studies has a vacancy for a project officer to implement the Cambridgeshire elements of updating the national Manorial Documents Register, a project funded by the National Archives.
Based at Shire Hall, Cambridge, the successful candidate will use original records and published sources to create definitive authority files of local manors, verify the existing descriptions of manorial records in the current MDR and update them where necessary, visit other UK repositories to obtain information about their manorial records, work with volunteers to enter the information onto a database, and encourage public understanding of manorial records through outreach.
Candidates must have excellent organisational skills to keep to targets, as well as knowledge of archive cataloguing and UK archive repositories, the history of manorial courts, good interpersonal and data input skills, and the ability to read documents in Latin for the period c.1250-1750.
This is a fixed term post for thirteen months.
