It is a great pleasure to invite you to the practical course on “Expression, Purification, Crystallization and Structure of Membrane Proteins” at the Unit of Biophysics (CSIC-UPV/EHU), Leioa-Spain, September 12th-18th, 2011. Course Director: So Iwata.
The aim of this course is to introduce PhD students and postdocs to the topic of Structural Biology of Membrane Proteins.
The course is FREE (including meals and accommodation) to all academic participants.
Travel grants will be offered.
The topics covered during the course will be:
* Target identification and selection (one versus many homologues)
* Membrane protein solubility, stabilization (detergent screen)
* Membrane protein purification and characterisation
* Thermostability assays
* High throughput crystallization including lipid cubic phase
* Data collection using synchrotron radiation
* Structure determination
