Dear All,
As part of a PhD study, I have been looking at the ways designers use design tools (sketching, 3D CAD, RP...) to embody, communicate and evolve design intent during the industrial design process.
My research has started to explore relationships between the character of different design tools, the designer's idiosyncratic approach to tool use and how these converge to support the various requirements of the design process. Initial findings have suggested how designer expertise influences approaches to studio practice and tool use during the embodiment of design intentions. The approach taken by less experienced designers may be characterised by early convergence, attachment to concept ideas and fixation, influencing the designer's use of design tools to embody and communicate ideas.
In response to findings indicating limitations in the novice (student) designer's awareness of the tool's role in support of the often dynamic requirements of the design process, an online website is being developed (IDsite). I would like to invite you all to view the site and provide suggestions and feedback to support its continued development. The site may be found at:

After viewing the site please take 5 minutes to complete a short survey, which can be found by clicking 'Your opinion?' on the site's navigation bar or at the link below:

Many thanks to you all for your help.
