Dear all,
We would like to draw your attention to this month's statistics course
(with places still available) that is organised and run by the Statistics
Courses Team at the UCL Institute of Child Health, Dr Angie Wade and Miss
Eirini Koutoumanou.
Introduction to statistics with R
24-26 May 2011; 10am to 4.30pm; Cost: £300; Location: Central London WC1
(ICH/UCL)
This is an introductory statistics course that aims to familiarise
participants with study design theory, different types of studies, ways of
summarising data, normal distribution, significance tests (parametric and
non-parametric) . In addition, the excellent, free statistical software R is
taught and delegates should expect to know the following by the end of the
course: how to read data files in R from excel, how to summarise and
graphically display their data, how to re-code and edit their data, how to
perform significance tests and how to download and use R libraries.
Participants are expected to bring their own laptops at this course with R
installed on them. Step-by-step download and installation guide is sent to
all delegates on registration.
